Every social platform has its own ideal image size, and posting the wrong dimensions leads to awkward cropping or blurry, stretched pictures. Resizing to the exact size a platform expects keeps your graphics sharp and correctly framed.
This free image resizer scales your photos to popular social presets or any custom size, right in your browser. Choose crop, fit or stretch, and download — nothing is uploaded.

Getting the fit right
“Crop to fill” zooms the image so it completely covers the target size, trimming whatever falls outside — best when the subject is centered and you want no empty space. “Fit (pad)” shrinks the whole image to sit inside the frame and fills the leftover area with a background color you choose, which keeps every part of the picture visible. “Stretch” forces the exact dimensions and can distort the image, so use it only when the aspect ratio already matches. Picking the right mode is the difference between a clean, professional graphic and an obviously squashed one.
Why exact sizes matter
Platforms downscale and crop images to fit their layouts. If you upload something far larger or the wrong shape, you lose control over how it is cropped and it may look soft. Resizing to the recommended dimensions up front means your text stays readable, your subject stays in frame, and the file is smaller and faster to upload. Save common sizes as your defaults and it becomes a two-second step before every post.
Private by design — nothing is uploaded
Unlike most online converters that send your files to a remote server, this tool does all of its work directly inside your web browser. Your image, video or audio never leaves your device, there is nothing to delete afterwards, and there is no account to create. That makes it faster (no upload or download round-trip on top of the processing) and far safer for anything personal or client-confidential. When you close the tab, everything is gone.
Tips & best practices
- Resize to each platform’s recommended size so your graphics stay sharp instead of being auto-cropped.
- Use "crop to fill" or "fit (pad)" to keep proportions; only use "stretch" when the ratio already matches.
- Make a 1280×720 version for YouTube thumbnails and a 1080×1920 version for Stories from the same image.
- For "fit (pad)", pick a background colour that matches your brand so the padding looks intentional.
- Resizing down also shrinks the file, so your images upload and load faster.
- Save the preset sizes you use most so resizing becomes a two-second step before every post.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes are included?+
Presets cover Instagram post (1:1), portrait (4:5), Story/Reel (9:16), YouTube thumbnail, X and Facebook — plus any custom width and height you enter.
How do I avoid stretching my image?+
Use “crop to fill” or “fit (pad)” instead of “stretch”. Those preserve the original proportions; stretch forces exact dimensions and can distort the picture.
Can I resize HEIC photos?+
Yes. iPhone HEIC images are supported and export as a standard JPG at your chosen size.
Are my images uploaded?+
No. Resizing happens in your browser and your photos stay on your device.
Is it free?+
Yes — free, unlimited, with no watermark or sign-up.
About our free creator tools
This is one of a growing set of free tools from Faceless Post, built for creators who publish consistently across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn. Every tool is free to use, needs no account, and adds no watermark. Most run entirely inside your browser, so your images, video and audio are processed on your own device and never uploaded to a server — there is nothing stored on our side and nothing to delete. That makes them fast, safe for client and personal files, and usable even on flaky connections once the page has loaded.
We build these because the day-to-day of content creation is full of small friction — converting a file, trimming a clip, resizing an image, cleaning metadata, grabbing a thumbnail. Handling those in one place, for free, saves you from juggling sketchy upload sites. And when you are ready to stop doing it all by hand, Faceless Post can schedule, caption and auto-publish your content to every platform from a single calendar. Explore the full free tools library or start free to automate your whole posting workflow.
